Getting married in a tropical country with a ceremony taking place at a luxury villa surrounded by loved ones is a dream of many brides and grooms. For Martika and Rapheal, this dream came true last October! And we had the chance to travel to beautiful Costa Rica for their amazing destination wedding at Villa Punto de Vista.
We got this opportunity thanks to Heidy Quesada, the most amazing wedding planner in Costa Rica. After discussing their needs with the couple, she thought we would be the perfect fit for their wedding pictures. When we first met with the couple on a Zoom call a few days later, we were all convinced we were made to work together.
After a few months of waiting like children before Christmas, we finally flew to beautiful Costa Rica! But our joy didn’t last for a long time… We knew we would come during the rainy season, but it was total chaos when we finally arrived at our destination. With constant tropical rain causing floods and mudslides on the roads. All the wedding vendors (including us) were stuck in San Jose, 170km from where the wedding would take place. It may seem like a small distance, but with Costa Rican small roads damaged by mudslides and falling trees, it could take a long time.
Hopefully, like for all destination weddings, we always arrive a few days before the wedding day in case of unforeseen. And fortunately, because we had to sleep on the road. It took us two days to cover 170km, even the locals with whom we discussed had never experienced such a situation!
M&R’s destination wedding at Villa Punto de Vista
When we arrived in the morning, we took the opportunity to discover this magnificent villa where the jungle meets the sea. We spent months looking at all the possible images of this place so finally discovering it in person was an incredible experience. We started by taking a few pictures of Villa Punto de Vista. Then we headed to Martika and Rapheal to start their getting ready and details pictures. It was so nice to finally meet them in person after all this time!
Once she was ready, Martika wanted to do a first look with her father. Then another first look with Rapheal before their ceremony. Both took place on the magnificent balcony overlooking the tropical beach and its crystal-clear water.
The ceremony took place on the top floor of the villa. Which, in addition to the magnificent floral decoration, offered us a breathtaking view of this romantic moment. After exchanging their vows in this magical place, the couple and their guests headed downstairs to eat. Once again, the work done for the decoration and the table details captivated all the guests! And as photographers, we were delighted to have so many beautiful details to capture. After a few speeches and a tasting of the wedding cake, everyone ended this magnificent evening on the dance floor.
