The story of this beautiful couple brought us to one of the most lovely surprise proposal in Paris we had the chance to photograph.
It all started a few years ago in the west London suburbs when Kathryn showed Peter an apartment to rent. Sparks flew but little did Kathryn know that Peter was head-over-heels in love with her. Kathryn, on the other hand, found him very nice but thought he was gay! Talk about a plot twist! But as fate would have it, Peter mustered the courage to confess his feelings to Kathryn, and the rest is history.
Fast forward a few years, and Peter knew he wanted to make the ultimate commitment to Kathryn. That’s how he started to plan a lovely surprise proposal in Paris.
But before traveling and looking for a Paris proposal photographer to capture the moment, Peter – like a true gentleman – drove several hundred miles to Kathryn’s father’s country home in Whales to ask for his blessing.
Kathryn’s father liked Peter very much, so he was delighted to hear the news and gave him his blessing.
After getting Kathryn’s father’s approval, Peter contacted us to immortalize this incredible moment during their next trip to Paris.
So he explained his romantic plan to us.
Peter’s Paris surprise Proposal
Each day he will give a handwritten letter to Kathryn with a riddle about the activity they were going to do that day. Each letter is connected, so the last would be the one where he confesses to her that he wants to continue the rest of his life by her side.
We found this idea incredibly romantic and couldn’t wait to see it happen!
So on D-day, Peter gave a letter to Kathryn indicating that they were going on a romantic cruise later in the morning. This is where we come in!
A few hours later, we positioned ourselves by the Seine’s shores and waited for the couple to show up. We stationed ourselves discreetly, feigning to anticipate the arrival of the cruise ship too.
As they gazed at the Eiffel Tower and awaited the (non-existent) boat, Peter chose that moment to present Kathryn with the final envelope. Inside, he had written a heartfelt confession of his feelings and requested that she turn and look at him when she finishes reading. This was the perfect opportunity for his romantic surprise proposal in Paris.
We started taking pictures discreetly until Kathryn turned around and saw Peter kneeling with a beautiful engagement ring, asking for her hand.
The emotion was too strong for Kathryn, who could not hold back her tears.
After the initial shock and excitement, we took advantage of the beautiful scenery. We captured some stunning shots of the couple, capturing their joy and love for each other candidly and naturally.
